Guess who got Gold Striker construction pics? WE DID!
A PureCoaster reader sent us a set of construction pics showing off the latest on this new GCI beauty.
Now, as someone who finds trip reports of twister coasters VERY confusing, especially if it’s at a park I’ve never been to, so I’ve made a chart that hopefully helps to clear up exactly what the photos are showing.
- Orange; dueling turns
- Green; double overbanked turns
- Red; showcase turn, (because it looks really showy)
Overlooking the park entrance from the Star Tower, with the new 49ers Standium in the back.
Flight Deck invert on the side, got to love the greenery in the park.
Onto Gold Striker!
An older image, with construction focussing on the now complete double overbanked turns.
The two overlapping turns appear to be finished, (view from behind)
The inside view of the double overlapping turns.
Work continues outwards.
More footers, maybe for the “showcase turn (labelled red)”
Well that’s it for Gold Striker construction pics, we hope to get some more pics soon to show you guys. Thanks again to CoasterMech for sending us the pics.
Things are really looking good for Leviathan as Canada’s Wonderland continues to check things off of Leviathan’s to-do list. Today, the park released a POV of a Leviathan test run. As things continue to show up online, I’m getting more and more pumped for the opening of this monster coaster. Additionally, if you look closely in the video, during the airtime hills you can clearly see the water dummies rise up against the restraints! Behemoth has some serious competition.
In addition to the video, Leviathan’s official blog has a new entry and the main gallery has a bunch of new photos of the trains and station building.
Leviathan’s track is finally complete, and I went up to that park yesterday and I took so many photos that if I posted them all in this post, it would run on for a ridiculously long length. So, I’ve posted the highlights here, and you can see the whole gallery on the PureCoaster’s new Flickr account.
To be honest, this is one of those rides where photos don’t do it justice, personally, I can’t wait to see it action.
Today Canada’s Wonderland added a few more construction pictures showing the world their impressive new B&M giga coaster, Leviathan. It looks like the intense hammerhead is done, and they are on to the second high speed curve on the return to the station, and with the brake run complete, it is only a bit longer until the track installation is complete!
Additionally, in the blog post, they draw attention to the fact that a lot of the technical work in the station, such as the pneumatic lines and electrical work. I don’t want to jinx it, but this looks like it might be ready for opening day, unlike last year’s Green Lantern First Flight@Six Flags Magic Mountain.
Check out the full construction gallery right here.
Canada’s Wonderland just released a new construction update via the official site and Facebook revealing that the ride construction as reached a milestone; the “barrel roll” and high speed air-time hill are done, and they’re on to building the massive Behemoth style airtime hill. The track has almost reached the entrance!
Also, in the official post, they state “to date we have installed 50% of the track sections.” Making the installation of the hill twice as important.
